Being Rich makes up for lack of intelligence?

Well, below, you'll find the 2004 intake at my former uni, The University of Melbourne, for a Bachelor of Law degree.

What you'll be disgusted to know is that there were 125 offers for FULL FEE STUDENTS, while only 25 offers were made for HECS-based places.

What that means is, for who those that couldn't afford to pay the full hefty $21,000 fee had to duke it out for the meagre 25 places (and have to get a perfect score of 99.9), while the rich kids can get in at a minimum of 95.00 (or even lower), ...throw some money at it and make it better, eh?




How does having money make up for poor grades? What happened to merit?

How is it fair that poor students have to battle it out for the leftover places, while the rich kids slack off, and have a greater chance at at getting in anyway because they're wealthy?

That's so fucked up. Fuck John Howard ... he's such fucking a little bitch.

An American student is challenging his school, claiming the faculty have violated his right to free speech.

He claims that he should be able to wear this shirt proclaiming, "Homosexuality is shameful. Romans 1:27," "Be ashamed," and "Our school embraced what God has condemned." in the same regard
that gay students can march for gay rights.

The difference?

Gay students aren't preaching hatred. They aren't condemning a way of life, or promoting some religious based bigotry. But this ignorant student is. Gay students march for equality, they march for civil rights, and for tolerance. They don't spread hatred or condemn people for being different. They don't encourage others to hurt or mame, or to foster prejudice.

That's the difference.

Religious students are hindering behaviour; they aren't forcing everyone into a gay marriage, but these right-wing bigots are forcing people to abandon their lifestyle.

If you don't like gay people, fine: Then don't be gay. But don't meddle in the affairs of gay people and tell them what to do, and dictate how they can behave, when their behaviour has no impact on your life whatsoever. All anyone is aksing for is a little tolerance and equal rights...

We have a clear separation of church and state. The school, operating in a public school district, cannot discriminate based on religiously based hatred, when religion cannot in any way impact constitutional law.

The people over at applepics.com, the image hosting site, have developed some questionable and Nazi like policies.


I noticed something was odd last week when all of my images hosted over at applepics refused to load. I just thought it may have been a temporary server crash, or just some downtime, but no, it's actually much worse. They have actually suspended registrations for new accounts at the momment, and existing accounts are now put through the ringer... The days of easy use image hosting at applepics is gone. No more "multiple accounting." either. Many people, like myself, use to just register for more than one account - multiple accounting? - in an effort in increase upload size. That's now a thing of the past, with anonymous mail services can't be used to try and thwart we "multiple acocunters."



These are the new guidelines for hosting images at Applepics:



* Free accounts are only available when existing ones expire or are deleted
* Keeping your free account requires action on your part
* Duplicate accounts will be removed without notice and images will be deleted
* Free accounts expire after 30 days of inactivity
* Free accounts also become available when existing users upgrade to premium
* All free accounts come with the initial 2 meg with a total maximum of 10 meg free
* The number of free accounts offered is capped somewhere between 5000 and 10000
* Hotmail, AOL and Yahoo email accounts will NOT be accepted for free account verification

These "premium" accounts are a user pays service, so don't expect anything without coughing up some cash.

I just couldn't be bothered logging into my account once a month, that's why I can't stand hotmail anymore.

Well, I'll stick with 2and2 from now on.

I couldn't seem to find ANY pics whatsoever of a shirtless jimmy fallon. Not one! Regardless, I managed to find some hot pics of Jimmy, and he looks damn fine in some of them too....mmmmm mmmm mmmm! Doesn't he look hot there?!

HOT!?

Well, anyone who doesn't know, there's a great site, sexylads.net, that has some excellent pics of mostly college guys (lads). Letme just say that there is some hot stuff, keep in mind that it's not a porn site, simply shirtless, ...and makes me thankful on a daily basis that I'm still at university. Hehe.



There's also the Famous Males Forum if you're up for famous actors/"musicians" (I use the term loosely). Though the site seems to be down at the momment, it's probably just temporary. Enjoy.

No Cydoor in eXeem

It Still Sux

The, makers of eXeem have taken the hint, and have removed any form of spy/adware from its p2p app. Well, this comes a little too late, because most users were disgusted with the nerve these programmers had to include adware. This isn't to say that the new version is "ad-free", they are planning on having html ads run through the program (much like suprnova.org)because they need $ someway I guess. Ugh. Anyway, most people were turned off of eXeem not because of the malware (that was just the icing on the cake) but because the program just plain sucks.

I guess they realised that no one was going to download the cydoor-infested version (especially when a lite version was released before the official beta). So instead of competing a spy version against a safe version, they caved in. Smart move, but it should have happnened in the first place.

Anyway, unless they find a better way of verifying files in eXeem, then people aren't going to bother. As I mentioned yesterday, the network is already FULL of fake files (thank the MPAA/RIAA for that), so how can people trust the content? There are already "trusty" sites popping up, but that's just like ed2k links, kdat files, and verified torents! Aarrgghh.

What still shocks me is tha IRC is still one of the biggest suppliers of warez and pirated media and they've been untouched. Too bad I don't have cable, huh? That's be my new home.

Please, someone, come out with a better program than the ones on offer, because how else can we get our pre-release music fix?

The evil, heartless MPAA corporation has succeeded again. Loki Torrent has succumb to the evil forces of the MPAA and shut itself down...permanently. Well, this was ofcourse, after they gave a heartfelt plea for users to "donate" to a "legal fund," which would help them fight the MPAA in court after being sued by said devils. Well, it seems now that they've made an agreement with the MPAA (ie, they paid a fine) and have agreed to hand over the server logs that list IP addresses of people who've downloaded torrents from Loki. This means they can idenitfy users who've downloaded torrents, and ...sue them. Thanks Loki.

This is the most disgusting form of selling out I've ever seen. Not only did he keep the funds for himself(appprox $40,000), but now he gets off scott free, and screws everyone who bailed him out! What a prick!

So that's it. The MPAA have won.

Sons of bitches, ... most of the crap hollowood dishes out is usually 2 stars or less, so why are they so protective of trash they call film? It's like a white trash whore protective of her trailer.

Well, I'm not phased. I'm sure somewhere there are coders ready to adapt Bit Torrent to make downloading even more anonymous and safe.

Then there'll be no stopping us.

The Da Vinci Code: Leans to the Left

Well, the book I'm reading at the moment is Dan Brown's Da The Vinci Code and it's quite a ride. Yes, I'm a little late getting around to it, but I hadn't finished reading the Lord of the Rings Complete Volume yet (oh, and it's not a trilogy people, read the prologue, it clearly states that it's not a trilogy buta one volume, 3 parts and 6 book novel). LOTR was an excellent, albeit long, read.

Anyway, The Da vinci Code is great so far, except some questionable Italian and French lines. It doesn't seem so fluent. But I'm a little rusty!

Regardless, I'm sure some conservatives wouldn't be too happy about the allegations in the book (which make me want to read it all the more!). Let's just say the book favours the left, and comes down hard on the religious right for it's mistreatment of gays, pagans, and anyone just plain non-religious. Ahhh. Satisfying.

Anyway, give it a go, it's a great read.

eXeem a waste and a sellout....

Not Happy, eXeem!

Well, the people over at Loki Torrent have the guts to speak out against the new p2p app eXeem, originally from the owners of suprnova.org (that was a great site), have since sold out to much....wealthier interests, and now their dream has ultimately turned to shit. For those that that don't know, eXeem contains adware and spyware (though they claim that cydoor isn't spyware... it actually is.)

There's already a "lite," version 0.21, stripped of all adware, but the makers of eXeem have begun to block these "lite," users, and a registry patch (for XP only) has to be applied. Aaarrgghh.


Doesn't this remind poeple of Kazaa? It's basically the same program. Furthermore, the new p2p app functions just like Kazaa because each user can submit content, and now it's already becoming flooded with fake files!

Fake files, when it's only been open to the public for a few weeks now. Well, I for one am still sticking with Bit Torrent until eXeem is either fixed or some other great new, indie app comes along.

There has been tons and tons ... and tons of talk about eXeem being the new way to use peer to peer.

We at LokiTorrent completely agree. The premise of eXeem sounds quite nice. The unfortunate fact remains that the once great people at suprnova are not in control of this application. Many of suprnova's higher-ups have left the once-great site as a result of this fact.

Touted as the savior of peer-to-peer, eXeem ended up becoming nothing more than a new version of KaZaa, cydoor spyware included.

Early warning of this began when news came out of eXeem being closed-source, a world-known indicator that someone has become too greedy and any chance of it being 'for the community' are forfeit.

We sincerely wish the people at suprnova the best in future endeavors, but it is apparent that signing up with an 'unnammed corporation' was the undoing of what could have been the 'next best thing' in peer-to-peer community sharing.

We hope that, and will continue to work towards, peer-to-peer becoming a viable alternative for those not wishing to pay 90% of the profits made from their hard work and talent to the likes of the MPAA and RIAA to distribute their works. This is, after all, why peer-to-peer exists; the spead of information and creative works by those who wish to share them with the world, actually be able to share them without having to ask permission to do so from the money-hungry distributers hell-bent on making a mockery of the great concept of the internet.

In light of these facts, the new application eXeem has been banned from our site. This does not mean that we at LokiTorrent are not supportive of new forms of peer-to-peer, but simply that we don't wish our members to submit to spyware privacy invasion in order to simply share files.

Wikipedia: The Propaganda Machine for Right Wing Australians

The people over at Wikipedia seem to like to spread propaganda. I was just sent an email from a University student who claims that Wikipedia is spreading right-wing propaganda on its pages.

Now it's official, they are a propaganda machine!

The people at Wikipedia have a page on the Liberal Party (the conservative political party). Although their name is "liberal," they are actually not liberals in any sense, but actually conservatives. The Labor Party is actually "liberal," in essence.

Now, the problem seems to be that the page, which is run by a Liberal Member (hardly a beacon of neutrality, wouldn’t you say?), claims that the Liberal party are actually neoliberal. Defined, a neoliberal is:

"A political movement beginning in the 1960s that blends traditional liberal concerns for social justice with an emphasis on economic growth"

I've never seen the Liberals stand up for Social justice; that's because they're the usually the ones hindering justice in the first place.

Now, any decent Australian would know that the Liberal party are FAR from "liberal," or "neoliberal." and care little for human or civil rights. All of their policies are strictly conservative, which, as the mailer pointed out, are EXACTLY the same as the conservative policies of the US. Coincidence?

He told me now that he faces a ban for speaking out against this inherent bias. A ban!!? For speaking out against false information and standing up against right-wing propaganda? The Liberals are conservatives! Scum, err...I mean, Prime Minister Howard, openly proclaimed last Christmas "Be proud of your Christianity!" What the fuck?! Does anyone think it's inappropriate to encourage any religious perspective from the government in charge? Separation of Church and state anyone?!

Not to mention their policies hinder gay rights (making a man-woman clause in marriage laws isn't "liberal" thinking), they are anti-abortion, and pro-war and will do anything - anything - to please the US - bend over and take one for the Americans is our new motto. Does this look remotely like anything a "liberal," government would say?! No. Absolutely not. And I object to the fact that the man running the page is actually working for the liberals themselves! How is that fair?! Just as Fox News is run by republicans, can it ever possibly be neutral? NO! They are BIASED to report favourable news of their precious leader. Just like the Wikipedia admins change the info page to make themselves look decent. To hide the fact that they are anything but.

Well face it! The Liberals are evil, and how dare they call themselves liberal. I don't think true "libarals" like the ALP support homophobia or like imposing religious beliefs onto the Australian public, do they?!.

Well, one of the best cds I've heard in a long time is Ray LaMontagne's Trouble. This is an example of pure song writing and real indie talent in today's ignorant "radio-friendly" world. And I don't mean "indie," music like, "Hey, I saw those guys on The O.C., man they're so indie." No, this isn't music like the sell-outs The Killers with their faux-"indie," street-cred, far from it. This is real music; one of the best albums I've heard in a while which I'm sure will never reach the mainstream as usual... and I'm so thankful!

It just shows that the mainstream are more than happy to listen to whorish, washed-up, white-trash artists than anything resembling real musical ability.

I don't even try to understand why people are happy to listen to whatever pop trash crap that comes along radio or MTV. They think mainstream is only "music," and absorb any one hit wonder that gets radio-play like it has merit. Instead of searching for good, talented artists, they wait to see what everyone else likes and are willing to accept mainstream music as the only possible alternative.

Ugh.
